Nunavut Marine Innovation and Research (NMIR) is accepting applications for its
Inuit Employee in Training (IEIT) program — an opportunity for Inuit to build a meaningful career in the marine sector through paid, hands-on experience aboard the RV Moses Appaqaq & RV Ludy Pudluk.

Participants will work alongside and be mentored by experienced crew members, earn industry-recognized credentials on the job, and become part of a growing community of Inuit professionals in the blue economy.

We are currently hiring for the following positions:

  • Captain
  • Engineer
  • Mate
  • Specialized Deckhand – Cook
  • Specialized Deckhand – Equipment Operator
  • Specialized Deckhand – Field Coordinator

The IEIT program is designed to support Inuit at every stage of their career journey, providing a complete pathway from entry-level experience to professional advancement in marine research and operations.
NMIR’s programs align with the priorities of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc., Qikiqtani Inuit Association, and Qikiqtani communities.

Eligibility: Must be Inuit.
